Character Info

◎ Character's Name: Maribelle
◎ Character's Canon: Fire Emblem: Awakening
◎ Character's Age: 18
◎ Canon Point: Chapter 14: Flames on the Blue
◎ Background/History:
Maribelle’s Wikia page detailing her backstory and character
The overall story of Fire Emblem: Awakening
Maribelle begins the game as a troubadour but by chapter 14 two years have passed and she really should have been (recently) master classed into a valkyrie, so that’s what I will be playing her as. She is not yet married.

◎ Is the character a hacker and/or do they have a sixth-sense? No.

◎ Personality:
Maribelle thinks highly of herself and her station as the only child of The Duke of Themis, one of the regions of Ylisse, and is known to be quite cold and spiky with "commoners" and new people in general. She's stuck up, haughty and enjoys scolding other people's manners and putting them in their place. However, she does warm up eventually and has a kind heart hidden deep down. She considers a noble heart more important than noble breeding and thinks her fellow nobles should hold themselves to her same standards in manners and generosity. She is completely willing to leap into battle to defend villagers from uncouth bandits and offer her fellow shepherds advice on how to better themselves (which is sometimes even appreciated!).

Maribelle has been known to defend other women when she sees them in distress, even when it is a situation that could put her in danger. This gets her scolded by Chrom on occasion, but Maribelle’s tongue is sharp enough to daunt most men and she tends to be very headstrong. Her recruitment chapter in the game involves Maribelle rushing to the rescue of her duchy when it was attacked by Plegians posing as bandits. Maribelle was alone but still did her best to drive them away and so was kidnapped and dragged across the border to be used as a hostage by King Gangrel. She was rescued, of course. She considers it her duty to protect those who need her and doesn’t hesitate in doing so, even when faced with a risk to her own safety. In fact, it seems like any danger to herself doesn’t even seem to cross her mind when she sees others in need.

After a nasty experience with Ylisse's legal system which nearly got her father beheaded for a crime he did not commit, Maribelle has thrown herself into studying law and dreams of becoming the first female magistrate of Ylisse. However, after studying for some time, she noticed an unsettling trend in how nobles and commoners are treated in court which redirected her goals. Now Maribelle plans to revolutionize how the law works in the world, so that it affects commoners and nobles the same way, since her studies have lead her to think it unfair that commoners are treated more harshly. She shall start in her home kingdom of Ylisse, but plans to bring her reforms to all the nations of her world, even if it takes her entire life.

As is very apparent on first glance, Maribelle is not the most socially adept of the Shepherds. She can be charming, usually by accident, and is very charismatic under the right circumstances but she has difficulty getting along with people because of her abrasive personality. Once she does become friends with someone, however, she really does adore them and is very loyal. But despite her noble bearing, among the nobility she is especially disliked. Growing up she was gossiped about and teased by the other noble girls and didn’t have any friends. Lissa, the princess of the kingdom, was the first to see past Maribelle’s prickly outer shell and not care about the rumors being spread and they became best friends. Because of this, Maribelle treasures Lissa beyond all other things and adores her unconditionally. She would give her life to protect her, despite Lissa’s protests, and loves to make her happy. However, Lissa is very well-liked and popular and Maribelle hates having to share her best friend. This mostly stems from a fear of losing Lissa to someone else, rather than any real selfishness. Over the course of the game Maribelle fights alongside her fellow Shepherds and becomes closer to them as a result. She learns to relax a little and be a bit more comfortable with the common folk from Robin and Vaike, is encouraged to follow her dreams by Libra and Stahl and generally learns to value herself a little more and chill out a bit. The order and point in time in which this happens is up to the player of the game, as it relies on the tactician's strategy, but at this canon point I imagine she's has decent support rank (basically friendship points) with most of the early recruited Shepherds.

Maribelle is the most likely of all the Shepherds to toss and turn in her sleep.

◎ Powers/Abilities:
Maribelle is very well educated and intelligent. She’s good at studying, playing the violin and she plays chess very well. As a valkyrie, Maribelle is able to use staves (to heal her allies) and magic tomes (to destroy her enemies). One tome that she can use is called Elfire which casts a spell that envelopes her opponent in a fiery blast. The tomes scale up in the severity and there are different elements (wind and lightening being the others available to Maribelle) but they act in similar ways. At this canon point I will say that her skill level with staves is A rank and she is at the D rank with tomes.

Maribelle has a very high magic stat and she’s also quite speedy and good at dodging. She’s an excellent horse rider, on the battlefield and off it. However, she’s quite frail in response to being hit and aside from riding, she isn’t a very physical person.

◎ Weapons & Other Special Inventory:
1x Mend staff (allowing her to heal injuries and restore a moderate amount of health) with 20 uses.
1x Heal staff (allowing her to heal small injuries and restore a small amount of health) with 30 uses
1x Elfire tome (a book allowing her to use offensive fire magic) with 35 uses.
1x Arcfire tome (more powerful than the Elfire tome, requiring more experience) with 25 uses.
1x pink parasol.

Whatever else was going on during any given day, Maribelle usually tried to keep one thing constant, even in Cerealia. Four o'clock in the afternoon was tea time, and whether she had company or not she would sit down somewhere nice to have a cup of elderberry tea. Of course, this wasn't as simple as letting the kettle boil and then pouring herself a cup before hurrying back to her desk to drink as she worked. No, standards demanded that she sit at a properly made up table in good light, tea pot and sandwiches laid out before her, and take her time enjoying her favourite drink. Any less just wouldn't do- and Maribelle was self-aware enough to know that she was temperamental at the best of times, without being denied her favoured manner of relaxation.

Today, as was commonly the case, Maribelle was alone. So she had arranged her sitting room in such a way that almost met her own standards and had set herself up by the open window, so that she could people watch as she drank. One person had been loitering outside for some time now. Up to no good, if Maribelle was any judge, and she frowned as she worried that she might have to interrupt her otherwise pleasant afternoon to go and frighten him away. Oh, there was her neighbour returning home, it seemed... She did hope that he waited before he started shouting and causing a ruckus as usual. They had all sorts over at that residence. Quite scandalous, though of course Maribelle wasn't one to gossip.

There was another person walking down the street, a rather cute girl with blonde hair that instantly made Maribelle think of her darling Lissa- though of course this woman wasn't half as charming. But, Maribelle thought charitably, there was no helping that. No woman in any world could ever hope to be half as intriguing and wonderful as Lissa.

Oh, how she missed her darling friend... Every day that went past without her was like an eternity, it seemed! Maribelle wasn't sure how much longer she could survive without her. With that spectacular light missing from her life, how could she go on? But she had to be strong. What if Lissa were to arrive one day and find that Maribelle had wasted away in her absence? Her darling girl would surely be filled with grief and the thought of a single tear falling down Lissa's adorable cheeks made Maribelle cringe. No, she would simply have to tough it out.

... And desperately hope that the gentleman next door was not planning on leaving the house with his hair looking so utterly disheveled.

◎ Is your character retaining any previous game memories? No.
